Friday 31st March saw a decree from the head of state president Paul Biya appointing the remaining 30 senators, completing the upper house of Parliament to 100 senators.
With the legal appointment date left with two days before it’s expiration and 8 days after after the results of the senatorial elections were proclaimed, on the 12th March 2023, Paul Biya in accordance to article 214 (1) of the Cameroon electoral code, appointed 30 senators (3 senators from each region) to add to the 70 already elected senators. Hence, all 100 members of the upper house of Parliament have been made public
For the next 5 years beginning from April 11 2023, the 100 senators that is the 70 elected and 30 appointed will begin exercising their power in the senatorial pool.
