The CAF awards is annual event which recognizes top sporting personalities in Africa was held on the 21st of July 2022 in Morocco to celebrate the individual as well as team brilliance for this past sporting year.
football greats like Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Edouard Mendy, Njoya Ajara, Asisat Oshoala amongst others where all nominated for this year’s award taking in to account their performance for club and country with top talents such as sadio mane and asisat oshowala particularly standing out and representing the African continent on the European footballing stage.

CAF men’s player of the year
Sadio Mane.
The Senegalese had an outstanding football year leading his country to their first ever AFCON as well as qualifying for the world cup in Qatar to take place later this year, not also forgetting his contribution to Liverpool’s run to the champions league final but fell at the hands of Real Madrid by a solitary goal.
CAF women’s player of the year
Asisat Oshoala
The Nigerian forward bagged her fifth CAF awards for her outstanding performance this year though disrupted by injuries, and playing just 19 games, she was still able to be joint top scorer with 20 goals. She plays for Spanish club FC Barcelona Femini and her performance helped her club win every possible trophy available in Spain. She is now one award clear of her compatriot Perpetual Nkwocha who sits behind her with 4 CAF awards

Guiding the Senegalese national team to their first AFCON trophy and qualifying then for the world cup is definitely capable of setting you in a league of your own. His tenacious and strategic leadership helped put Senegal amongst the distinguished people to have won the AFCON.
CAF women’s coach of the year.
Desiree Ellis, heacoach for the Banyana Banyana of South Africa did her nation proud claiming this award and also leading the battle for her countries first Female AFCON trophy after having qualified for the finals of this year’s competition

Having braved all the odds and shaking of an early scare to end up winning their first ever AFCON trophy definitely came with it’s benefits as they were voted the best team for this year’s award beating Cameroon and Egypt.
